NEJ Golddust Alice (Golddust Miner M C x May’s Sweetie)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice (5/19/1993 – 9/2/2013). This tall, elegant dark red chestnut mare came to us on a broodmare lease in 2002 along with her dam, and her full sister, NEJ Golddust Emma.

Alice, a Registered Morgan Mare had a pedigree that featured popular Beamington & Devan+ Bloodlines up close.  She was 15.2+hh and looked equally nice as a mount for a man or a woman.

We utilized her for a period between foals as a lesson horse for our grandchildren. While she was never a harness horse, she did know how to ground drive well, and she was instrumental in teaching our grandchildren to ground – drive, and also in instructing Sleipnir Southern Cross in tandem ground driving.

As a broodmare, she was easy to breed, handle, and foal. Alice graced us with four foals.

Sleipnir Onyx by B-L Rhinestone Kid, a fancy black mare that was sold to be a parade horse and broodmare;

Sleipnir Smoky Mountain, by Sleipnir Sequoyah, a tall black gelding that became a family pleasure horse.

Sleipnir Resonance,  by Sleipnir Echo’s Finale, a friendly red chestnut gelding that we hope to train as a harness pair .

and Sleipnir Kobayashi Maru, by Sleipnir Zenith, a handsome dark brown chestnut colt that is still whole.

Alice was fine this morning while I was visiting the Herd. Elizabeth noticed that she was down this evening as she was finishing feeding. After consultation with her veterinarian, and her owners, she peacefully joined the herd that is waiting on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
While we did not breed her, she was an integral part of our Herd and our breeding program for over a decade.
NEJ Golddust Alice knew that she was loved and valued; and she will be missed.
