There are no words that can convey all the memories and emotions behind this obituary/biography of Sleipnir Constellation.

Sleipnir Constellation, a Bay mare born in 1983, passed away at 32 years old…(related to approximately 90+ in human years). She was B-L Rhinestone Kid’s, our foundation stallion, first foal.  And she was U C Spicy Lass’, our foundation mare, last, and was orphaned at a few days old.

Connie was a retired National Caliber show horse and retired broodmare. She was our Pleasure Driving Champion in New England and the Mid-Atlantic area; and was the matriarch of the herd following her half sister’s (U C Cinnamon by UVM Viking x U C Spicy Lass) demise. Connie was our first, and only cross, of our cornerstone stallion and mare, as we lost Spicy to an illness following Connie’s delivery. We raised Connie as an orphan foal…but you would never have known it.  Her big brother and our first foal, Sleipnir Valhalla (U V M Viking x U C Spicy Lass) (1980 – 2005) was a great loving influence; and we went back to the University of Connecticut to get his full sister, U C Cinnamon, as a four year old.  We also brought home U C Phoebe, (by U C Ringmaster x Merwin Black Beauty), as a weanling to be her companion in the paddock as well.

Connie’s photo was solicited by the American Morgan Horse Association Registry to be used in one of the last Registry Volumes, where the photos to be included were chosen by Committee to represent the breed, rather than via paid advertisements. She was chosen as an example of the ideal morgan mare.  The photo was taken by Jan Lynick when Constellation was in training with Les Parker. She showed to First Place and Championships with Les, and later with John MacDonald, prior to our reducing our herd and taking a hiatus from showing in the late 1980’s.

She was one of the core of six Morgan Horses that we moved from Massachusetts to Iowa, and Iowa to Tennessee.  She was also the cornerstone of our breeding program when we began to breed again, having the first foal in Tennessee and the last from the core herd.

She was the dam of:

Sleipnir Southern Cross, by Great Oaks Mastrcopy,

Sleipnir Legacy, by Sleipnir Top Hat,

Sleipnir Celestial Array, by Hylee The Rage,

Sleipnir Echo’s Finale, by Exquisite Sir Echo,

and

Sleipnir Andromeda, by Courage of Sweet Meadow.

She was also the Grand-dam of our “Echo’s” foals: Sleipnir Echo’s Celebrity, Sleipnir Double Feature, Sleipnir Resonance, and also Farner’s Lucy Long , and Farner’s Travler.

Connie and her pasture friend, Coeur d’Alene (Breezeway x Oak Hill Perfect Pic) had been together in large paddocks for many years.  She had outlived her sire and dam, all her brothers and sisters, two of her Produce and her closest pasture companion.  The weather has been lovely in SouthEastern Tennessee…the heat of the Summer is over, the cold of Winter is not yet here.  Connie decided it was time to go.

Note: Connie’s registered name was Sleipnir Constelaton due to the alphabetic limitation.

Sleipnir Constellation was the embodiment of our mission and motto:

Family Show Horses : Showy Family Horses

Georgia’s mini-Essay for Horse & Driver Directory – 2013

We are proud to be a long-time Morgan Horse Family; Breeding and Showing Morgan Horses since 1979. We are especially interested in the preservation, promotion, and sharing of Morgan Horse pedigrees, in a modern horse.

This is a family operation with three generations feeding, training, and maintaining the herd. Good Manners are every bit as important to us as correct conformation and the Morgan’s intrinsic beauty and terrific personality.

We have all ages. Suitable for various disciplines. Classic Morgan bloodlines and temperament. Blacks, Seal Browns, Dark Chestnuts, Bays, & a palomino. National caliber horses for the show ring, CDE, trail, or backyard.

Our horses are groomed near geese, ducks, chickens, guinea hens, cats & dogs.
Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm is located in East Tennessee at the foot of the Smoky Mountains, off Interstate 75, between Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Our motto and mission – Family Show Horses : Showy Family Horses.

Meet the Sleipnir Stallions: Part 3: Sleipnir Carbon Copy and his Get

Sleipnir Carbon Copy (B-L Rhinestone Kid x Coeur d’Alene, by Breezeway x a Funquest bred dam) is a glorious mahogany Bay Morgan Stallion.

Sleipnir Carbon Copy is 14.3hh, flat-hoofed, no shoes, and trimmed for pasture.

His Stud fee is $1,000.00, live foal guaranteed.

S. Carbon Copy is also For Sale, as we do not need 4 stallions. Carbon is a Full brother to our Black Stallion, Sleipnir Sequoyah. Both are by B-L Rhinestone Kid, our deceased senior stallion. Each is priced at: $9,990.00  Carbon is not rank, or difficult, and is kind to his mares. He could be gelded for use as an amateur horse. He would be superb! Carbon has had professional training for all his basics and has been worked with by amateurs, including our beginner teenaged grand-daughter. He has been extensively ground driven and has been ridden.

Or, purchase his 2012 Bay daughter, Sleipnir Star Attraction, raf (x NEJ Golddust Emma)…for $2,000.00.

NEJ Golddust Emma (Golddust Miner M C x May’s Sweetie) is also for sale for other owners (we have her on a breeding lease). She can be purchased with or without a breeding to one of our stallions. She is the only Black Proven Broodmare ever offered for sale by her owners. Her chestnut sister, NEJ Golddust Alice, is also available, also a Proven Broodmare, and Alice has been used as a various sized ring lesson horse for all of our grand-children.

We are also anticipating the birth of another 2012 foal by Carbon, out of our really wonderful Dark chestnut mare, Playday Rebecca (Stoneholm Taliesin x Stoneholm Alameda). ‘Becca has had many gorgeous foals for other breeders, as well as for us. (see the photos of Sleipnir Echo’s Celebrity and Sleipnir Double Feature under Sleipnir Echo’s Finale’s blog posting). Her foal will be available for sale.

All Sleipnir Morgan Horses have their pedigrees listed on www.allbreedpedigree.com ; where you can also do “hypothetical” breedings.

All of our For Sale Horses always have asking prices listed and available. All are current on their vaccinations and wormings, all sell with a current negative Coggins, all have lots of basic ground manners – stand for the farrier, veterinarian, and grooming/handling by amateurs. Many are trained to ride and drive. All maintain a good hoof, are trimmed regularly and cut-down, trimmed for pasture. Only the horses currently stalled in training carry a longer hoof and wear a shoe. Most of the mares and geldings have been pastured together at various points in time. All the stallions have been kept in 200 x 100 open paddocks, as well as stalled at various points in their lives.
Every Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm horse ever sold in our over thirty years of breeding has gone to a permanent loving home.

Our Spring Open House date has not been scheduled due to John’s recovery from his illness and our tornado related rebuilding work. Visitors are always welcome, with notice preferred.
