Sleipnir Fieldstone, 2006 Bay Gelding and Elizabeth L.D. McGee

Here is a photograph of Elizabeth driving S. Fieldstone last Monday.  Unfortunately, it is pouring rain today. So, no driving today…but we do need the rain.

This is the first time that Elizabeth has driven in a long while. She used to show Junior Exhibitor Pleasure Driving in New England…I won’t say how long ago.

As you can see, she is driving Fieldstone out in the open. No ring. In the pictures with John driving, same thing. We are doing the same with S. Celestial Array. And hopefully we will get a few others back in harness this Autumn.

S. Sequoyah will be coming home from his harness training soon. Then it will be another’s turn.

Nice autumn weather will return after the rain.

We are all looking forward to more fun on the farm.

Sleipnir Fieldstone, is a 2006 Bay gelding.

(B-L Rhinestone Kid x NEJ Golddust Emma)

Fieldstone is Rhinestone’s last gelding.

He is closely related to Sleipnir Explorer, who had pinned GN Top Ten last year, and was sold to a lovely young lady who fell in love with him at OKC. She has qualified with him and is showing him at GN again this year. Same sire, and Fieldstone’s dam is a daughter of Explorer’s dam.

Fieldstone is also closely related to Sleipnir Onstar, a 2003 Black Roadster-to-Bike who was Top Ten at the Grand Nationals last year.

Fieldstone is professionally trained to harness.  He has a calm temperament, with a flat-footed walk.  We used him for a grooming demonstration at an Open Barn event as a 2 y/o, with three 7-8 y/o boys doing the demonstration.  He also stood nicely for a crowd around him.  We took Fieldstone to two Extension Service Day-on-the-Farm Events for first graders and their families.  He ate up the attention and the carrots.

He has been trained to saddle by an amateur teenager, with professional guidance, and has been ridden around our farm.

While he was in harness training, the trainer’s 4 y/o daughter drove him; and stood with him in the crossties getting kisses.

In the two driving pictures with John, it was the first that Fieldstone had been driven in several months, and it was the first that John had driven since before his injury last October.  Fieldstone stood for the electric wheelchair coming over to him, and for John getting in and out of the cart.

Our trainer trusted Fieldstone with his daughter. And we trusted him to stand well for John.

Fieldstone has been shown in harness at a qualifying show for the Grand Nationals, and drove strangers around the showgrounds. We are going to continue to work him in harness for John and I to drive.

If you think of our herd in thirds…a third as retirees who are here for the duration; a third as replacement bloodlines to continue our breeding program; and a third that are for sale, because someone needs to be…Fieldstone, Sleipnir Celestial Array, Sleipnir Double Feature, and Sleipnir Resonance are our geldings for sale.  We also have mares and stallions available for sale.

Sleipnir Fieldstone personifies our motto of over thirty years duration:

Family Show Horses : Showy Family Horses.

Meet the Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm Geldings, Part 2 of 2: Two 2 y/o Chestnut Geldings: Sleipnir Double Feature and Sleipnir Resonance

Two 2010 Geldings and Two 2009 Mares running in pasture

Meet Sleipnir Double Feature (D F) and Sleipnir Resonance, our two 2010 red chestnut/sorrel Morgan geldings.  In the picture above from Front to Rear, it is S. Resonance, S. Double Feature; then two 2009 mares: S. Hiwassee, a black mare by Sleipnir Sequoyah and S. Echo’s Celebrity (a full sister to D F).

Sleipnir Double Feature (Sleipnir Echo’s Finale x Playday Rebecca)  (“D F”).  D F is the essence of all that we hoped for from a cross between Echo and Rebecca.  He is intelligent, athletic, handsome, friendly and willing to please, with a great way of going.  He is royally bred with a pedigree filled with athletic, people-friendly, and beautifully formed ancestors.  He should mature around 15hh+/-.  He has all the talent and temperament for a multitude of disciplines; either as a National level, Class A caliber show horse in Pleasure Driving, a fancy friendly family horse, or an athletic competitive carriage driving horse.  S. Double Feature could be paired with either S. Resonance or S. Echo’s Celebrity.  Like all our horses, we have every reason to keep him; but we sell our best, and with John still recovering from his foot wound/infection that he acquired while attending the 2011 W/GN MHS in OKC, we are not able to devote the attention to our herd that they deserve.  Everyone who sees this guy wants to get driving him!! and by Fall, he’ll be ready to saddle. Get him now, and train him your way. He is priced at $5,000.00, and we would prefer a home where he will be able to be fully utilized to his best advantage.

Sleipnir Resonance (Sleipnir Echo’s Finale x NEJ Golddust Alice) Resonance is slightly redder chestnut than Double Feature (D F); but still close enough to be a pair. He is super friendly, and comes right to the fence for bits of carrots and to be scratched.  Resonance is also by “Echo” and out of one of our  favorite producing mares, “Alice”.  Alice is a great mother, easy to breed, and to deliver, and nice to work around her foals. She is also a great horse for beginner riders of any age for in the schooling rings.  She is tall enough for a man, and pretty enough for a woman, and has been a lesson horse for all our grand-children, plus others.  (She is available For Sale by her owners; we have her on lease). Resonance had an eye injury earlier last Autumn, but has completely recovered.  His veterinarian is available to confirm that his vision is unaffected.  The flaw does lead us to price him slightly lower than he would usually be: at $1,975.00.  He should mature to the same range as DF.   Alice’s foals have been sold for breeding stock as well as permanent members of family farms.  Resonance is a bit further in his handling training due to his eye injury, and need to be handled and stalled.  People who have worked around him will agree that he is a sweetheart with tons of potential in various disciplines, singly or as a pair.

Either singly, as a possible pair, or combined with any of our other offered horses, S. Double Feature and Sleipnir Resonance, would make friendly and athletic additions to anyone’s stable or paddocks.  For those buyers that prefer red and brown chestnut/sorrel to other coat colors, they would be a treasure.  These fellows are ready to train to drive your way, or soon enough will be ready for saddle training for the Fall.

They are current on their vaccinations, have negative Coggins, and are ready to travel.  S. Resonance has been trailered several times, and been stalled at different places, and in a large pasture with company of various ages. D F has been in a couple different stalls, but mostly in a large pasture where he can run and play, with and without Resonance, and with horses of various ages.  Both gentlemen stand for the veterinarian and the farrier and for basic grooming.  They were imprinted as foals, and can be pastured with other horses, young and older.

All Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm members of the Herd have their pedigrees listed on www.allbreedpedigree.com

It is time to start the Foal Contest

We, as breeders, have been anticipating the 2012 foals for over a year now…Actually, we have crosses planned in our minds and on paper for decades…some will occur; some won’t.

Playday Rebecca (Stoneholm Taliesin x Stoneholm Alameda) (Very Dark Brown) and NEJ Golddust Emma (Golddust Miner M C x May’s Sweetie) (Black) are in foal to Sleipnir Carbon Copy  (B-L Rhinestone Kid x Coeur d’Alene, by Breezeway) (Mahogany Bay) for 2012 foals.

Emma was bred first, and ‘Becca second.  However, ‘Becca could deliver earlier than Emma.

John is projecting  two fillies: ‘Becca’s Seal Brown and Emma’s Black; with Emma being first and ‘Becca second.

I am also projecting two filles:  ‘Becca’s being Bay and Emma’s being Seal Brown; with the same order as John.

Photo: Sleipnir Carbon Copy

John has suggested Sleipnir Carbon’s Playday as a name for ‘Becca’s foal, suitable for a colt or a filly, any coat color.

Depending on their coat color, I like something similar to Sleipnir Black Gold for Emma’s foal…Elizabeth had a Tri-color collie that we used that name for, and we called him “Tex”.

You can add your guesses.  Either add them as a comment below; or send them as an Email, and I’ll keep tabs.  You can guess anonymously if you would like …

No prize, except seeing the resulting foals.
